just so excited to sew on my rag tags everywhere now!
not sure what to make with it..so I think it might just stay as a picture on my wall =]

a printing kind of day

sorry for my lack of blogging, been abit of a busy bee..
I spent my whole day printing lengths of fabric today, to make into different things, dresses, tops, scarves, pockets to name a few.
weekends are the best time for printing, got the whole workshop to myself so i could spread out all my things and focus only on the fabricccc!
art school trees definitely make the most of autumn,
so this is a photo taken straight after printing, waiting for the latest prints to dry, i thought it made a pretty cool effect and you can see the repeat pretty easily.
the length of cotton burgandy fabric i plan to make into a shift dress, and that piece of linen in the foreground is one of many tea towels we are selling at the textiles open day in august! (get around itttttt)
ta daaaaaaa
the fruits of a days labour!
screen printed tags

hope to share some completed clothes with you soon,
but for now, i should write my design history essay. yes. now. go rosie go.

rag ragidy rag rag rag

today i have been contemplating a new font for my label rag--- which you may or may not have realised are my initials!
after some feedback from a teacher of mine, I think the uppercase R.A.G has somewhat of a military/tough aesthetic...which is not really my style, quite the opposite really.. so after sifting through plenty of potential fonts on adobe illustrator and various websites, i think i have settled on a lower case typewriter font which i have then drawn over the top to get a rougher more hand drawn effect.
For one of my classes, we have to make potential business cards...so i have been staring at the screen all day, playing around with photoshop and illustrator, and found i could do some cool layering with photo's and letters and ta daaa!..

a detail of a laptop case i made for a friend

a little pouch made from vintage fabric

i think i'll think about it...let me know what you think!!!

collaboration

In the next few weeks I will be sewing up a storm using the fabrics designed and made by my good friend, and honours student Tara Bromham (check out her work here)
She is a very talented textile designer, working mostly with screenprinting and natural dyes.
Yesterday, we spent a number of hours in the textile workshop sorting vintage, hand printed and natural dyed fabrics and collating them into beautiful designed clothes, and cutting cutting cutting!
what a beautiful colour palette nature provides
silk chiffon, satin and habitae, vintage lace and linen, silk and cotton velvet
eeeeeeeee!!

PINK

so i thought i should document some crafty little fun things that have been in the making lately, but i have been to busy to blog about!

this is a detail of a delectable scarf made for a dear friend of mine,
similar to the first scarf i made, but extra thick and wooly, perfect for the chills of a canberran winter!
i have a strange infatuation with triangles and calico bags...
nothing like a bit of pink to brighten your day!

sneak peak of band night

After a jam packed week, I took a moment to relive the memories last night at bandnight.
Here is the gorgeous Metaxia sporting a 'grace potter' inspired jacket/cape. There are many more to come, now just to sort through the 500 odd photographs that landed on my SD card last night!
