some more felt brooches

Back in December I got some more brooches lasercut, with a company in New Zealand called Ponoko
More of the same that I got cut back during the semester, and some new little animals too!
Lasercut felt smells so bad, so it needed a good wash in cold soapy water and the edges needed a good scrub with a toothbrush to get rid of the singed felt.
(yuck look at that water. ew)
Once they were dry and well fragranced, I glued a brooch back on the side with rag engraved and attached them to the brown paper card that I (painstakingly) typed with my typewriter
And ta da!! here they are,
a lazy month later all ready to go to market!
there are 34 bunnies - some sitting some jumping
8 squirrels
8 horses
4 birds
and 1 wolf
...they could be keeping your jumper/blouse/dress pretty cosy
let me know if you want one in the next few days and you are in Sydney,
otherwise, you will find them at the ANU Arts fair on 12th of Feb in Canberra
where you can pick one up for $10..Bargain!!!
I'll be posting them in the next few days so let me know asap!

hydrangea head jenny

Over new years some friends, some of my siblings and I took a trip to Tasmania for falls festival (which was awesome!!!!!)
after the festival we trekked it up to launceston for a bbq with a friend (nom nom nom).
we also got the pleasure of being taken to the gorge in launceston.
I took 200 photos at the gorge. ridiculous huh? but it was inevitable, it is a beautiful place.
my sister and i had abit of fun with the hydrangeas..so instead of putting up a gizallion pretty photos i'll just show you a handful, of how pretty my sister is.

oooo and we had such a treat of a sighting! get excited!!!

then a pretty peacock came out from behind the bushes and put on a show for us!
the peahen didn't look too impressed...i was pretty captivated though..

bespoke blouses

Happy 2013 friends!!
This year is going to be one to remember and to start off a great year
I have been busy stitching some new tops for my friends at work Steph and Roxy!
Both made out of original Marimekko fabric

This one is for Steph, she's a pretty rad interior stylist - you can see her stuff here www.stefanieingram.com
100% Cotton Sateen
Designed by Aino-maija Metsola for Marimekko 2010
the hem curves up and follows the design up to the side seam
the back
bias binding is my best friend. love it.
complete with rag tag

This one is for Roxy, she's also pretty lovely!
100% cotton
designed by maija isola in 1964 "vihkiruusu"
some interesting history of this one...this print was Marimekko's first floral print! simple and sophisticated
this is the back
the band at the bottom has a split in the side so it fits abit nicer.
it got a rag tag too
here is a  "vihkiruusu" tote bag in a red colour way, love it!

I'll be stitching up some more marimekko fabric for another project soon, so come back soon!!
thanks for your support friends, means the world to me
